SelectPdf offers a .NET library that converts inside your application and a hosted REST API (as of Sep 2026). The WeasyPrint API has no library. Rendering is one HTTP call from any language (Python guide), and the engine, fonts and updates are run for you.
What each one costs
The SelectPdf library is a one-time license from $499 to $1,599, by number of developers and machines (SelectPdf pricing, as of Sep 2026). A free Community Edition makes PDFs of up to 5 pages. The REST API costs $19 a month for 2,000 conversions and $59 for 20,000 (API pricing, as of Sep 2026).
pagespool charges 1 credit per render with an API key, whatever the page count. €20 a month buys 10,000 credits (pricing).
When SelectPdf fits
- Your stack is .NET and conversion should run in your process, with no network call.
- Document HTML may not be sent to an outside service.
- You need JavaScript or live URLs. The SelectPdf API supports both (REST API, as of Sep 2026).
The WeasyPrint API runs no JavaScript and loads no URLs.
When the hosted WeasyPrint fits
- Several languages call the same endpoint: Python, Node and curl, with nothing installed.
- You prefer a monthly plan you can cancel to library licenses and engine updates.
- HTML and PDF should not be stored. A WeasyPrint render runs in memory (privacy policy).
Paste up to 100 KB of HTML without an account: render it in the free tool.
FAQ
- Is there a library to install?
- No. The WeasyPrint API is one HTTP endpoint. The same call works from curl, Python, Node or any other HTTP client, with nothing to install or license.
- Can I run it inside my own application?
- Not this API. If conversion must run in your process, a library fits, such as SelectPdf's .NET library (https://selectpdf.com/pricing/, as of Sep 2026), or WeasyPrint installed on your own server.
- Is my HTML or the PDF stored?
- No. A WeasyPrint render runs in memory, and neither the HTML nor the PDF is written to disk. A PDF made with the MCP tool is kept in memory for 15 minutes, so you can download it from its link. The privacy policy has the details.
